Crosswind Calculator

Determine headwind and crosswind components for takeoff and landing.

Why Calculate Crosswind?

Every aircraft has a demonstrated crosswind component limit. Exceeding this limit can make directional control during takeoff and landing hazardous or impossible.

Rule of Thumb

30° difference = 50% crosswind. 45° difference = 70% crosswind. 60° difference = 90% crosswind.

Pilot Tip

If the crosswind component is near your personal minimums, consider using a different runway or diverting to an airport with more favorable winds.
